If you’re planning to own an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) you will soon realize the only way to practically get the vehicle in a trailer or truck for transport is to own ATV ramp. Today’s ramps come in multiple designs made of lightweight aluminum. However, misuse or improper loading can also result in injury.
When buying a ramp, keep in mind that most ramps are designed only for loading an ATV into a pickup truck or a trailer. Ramps come in multiple forms with dual strips, one solid ramp piece, perforated ramps and wide strip ramps, among other choices. Each style is built and created to allow an owner to roll an ATV up the ramp and onto the transport vehicle. However, not every ramp can hold every ATV. A buyer should only consider those ramps that clearly support the weight capacity for that buyer's ATV.
A bit of planning is also needed for the type of truck that the ATV will be loaded onto. The truck size and clearance off the ground will make a difference in the type of ramp used. Mini-trucks and small trucks with only two-wheel drive have a low clearance. Four-wheel drive trucks, standard size trucks and large diesel trucks sit much higher and need higher ramps to load into the truck bed. ATV ramps going farther up need to be strong enough not to buckle under the ATV weight.
